2009 has brought a new kind of pregnant woman. A woman who wants to schedule a private childbirth class rather than take the full course at the hospital. Sure, we still have full classes at the hospital, but the private classes are offering something to a segment of the population who might not have taken any class before. One benefit of the private class is that it is completely customized and can be scheduled around your busy schedule. I like them too. The last private class I taught felt like we really got to the heart of what was ‘up’ for the couple and therefore I was able to help them make some big shifts to get ready for labor. When they left, I felt like we were great friends. Probably ones I will never see again, but ones that make my work so satisfying.
